A Different Way to Learn to Speak English

With over 1.1 billion speakers, English is the most spoken language on earth. We should mention, however, that Mandarin Chinese is often recognised as the most popular language on the planet. This is because Mandarin is the most native of first language speakers. One in every five human beings speaks Mandarin. But adding up the number of people who speak English is much more challenging, since most people learn it as a second language.

That's right! Only about one-third of the people who speak English learned it as a first language. The rest took classes in school or studied it on their own as a second language. Why do people learn English? English is the language of business. Therefore, any person that works for a global corporation and does business overseas is expected to know at least some English.

What kind of course should you take? Students who are learning the language to advance their careers should sign up for a class in business English. More often than not, these students will have some experience with the language. Perhaps they took Cursos intensivos de ingles en España courses in high school or in college.

If you have no experience with the language, we do not recommend taking a course in business English. In that case, it is probably better to sign up for a basic language course. What kind of course should you look for?

Any good English language course must include English grammar. Even if you are only learning the language for Business purposes, there are practical reasons to learn grammar. You may, for example, be asked to compose a business letter or memo in English. Obviously, you cannot truly know a language unless you can write and read it.
